1. Current Condition Rationalization - because your physical condition is poor, you rationalize you'll start cooking when you're feeling better and choose for that day, fast or frozen food. Your Metabolic Rate is low and you're breathing is heavy, and that better day for cooking is not today, so you choose once again the junk food, loaded with sodium, gluten and sugar. Circulation is decreasing and you are a border-line diabetic; despite the life-threatening signals, comments from family and friends, many people will not commit to quit choosing bad food.
2. I Deserve a Reward Today - you've remained diligent for 2 or 3 days, choosing healthy foods, and decide you can have a mouth-watering Cheese-burger and Strawberry shake - WRONG! Just when you're starting to gain baby steps towards a healthy Life-Style, you've stepped backwards, and lost all the good you accomplished in those 3 days!
3. Feeling Convicted, but Continue Choosing Bad Food - even though you know your choice is saturated in hydrogenated oils, and sugar - it's delicious. I'll just do this for the last time; tomorrow comes and you're running late, and choose the Fast Food one more time. You are aware but not convicted to buy Whole Foods and cook healthy meals.
4. Indulgence Beyond Fullness - that feeling we get at Thanksgiving time; where we continue eating, even when you've reached the feeling of fullness.
5. Unrestrained Eating - indulging in eating the entire carton of Oreo cookies or a box of Cheez-it snacks in one sitting.
6. Repeated Craving - you've just finished your meal 15 minutes earlier and are full, but you have a craving to open the refrigerator again, and pop the lid on the left-overs.
7. Revisiting The Wrong Dept. - you know you should not visit the cookie isle, the frozen food isle or the chips isle; but you not only re-visit the isle, you make the wrong purchase - again.
Sadly, obesity is a very real and prolific problem in America and particularly among youth. Aside from the fact that it is simply unhealthy to be overweight, several secondary problems often develop. Arthritic problems in the ankles and knees and hips, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and many other unpleasant conditions.
The junk food - processed, frozen, imitation, fried, meat or something like meat - that many people consume, especially our children, is causing obesity and yet providing little nutrition.
One of the most effective and immediately realized methods to combat obesity is through diet. How is a change in diet immediately realized when it takes weeks or even months to notice weight loss? It's immediate because the human body responds very positively to good wholesome nutrition. The immediate realization is that of actually feeling good after eating a meal, as opposed to full, loaded down, and sleepy. Eat well so that you may live well, and in living well, may you always do well.
