Losing Belly Fat: What You Don't Know Could Hurt You

Losing belly fat and keeping it off is not as difficult or as hard as many people think. Yes it is the last to go in almost every workout program and diet plan but this does not mean that it is impossible to deal with. A combination of a balanced diet and cardio as well as strength training and a lifelong commitment to healthy living is the trick to shedding off belly fat and keeping it off! Reducing your food intake and removing all empty calories goes a long way in helping one lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way. Ensure to include a serving of protein in your meals as this helps in building muscle which in turn does wonders to your fat burning quest.
Do not skip the most important meal of the day- Breakfast! Ensure that the meal that breaks your all night fast (since you were asleep!) is nutritious and packed with protein. Protein rich foods give one a feeling of a full stomach which helps to keep at bay that hungry feeling. Protein is also essential as it helps in the building of healthy body cells.
Some excellent examples of protein rich food include yoghurt, chicken and eggs. While these are great, always opt for the low fat versions which include fat free yoghurt, eating only the egg whites instead of the whole egg as well as removing the skin from the chicken as this is where all the fat is stored. Watch the portions of food you eat and have smaller meals at regular intervals as opposed to large meals far and in between. This also helps keep your blood sugar levels normal as well as decreasing your appetite while helping in decreasing your stomach size. Make this regular in your lifestyle and soon you will discover that you did not need all those huge helpings after all.
Do not skip meals as you will only starve yourself and end up eating more in your next meal. This will completely destroy your attempt to reduce food intake as your appetite will increase forcing you to eat more hence more calories. An empty stomach caused by skipping meals also increases ones craving for sweets which are full of empty calories. Always keep focused on your goal which is weight loss and reducing belly fat and you will surely keep to the program.
Do not eat right before going to bed as your body will not have the time or the energy to burn up the food. This is because when we fall asleep the body also falls asleep and shuts down the fat burning mode to concentrate on recuperating and rest. The metabolic rate is at its lowest at bedtime hence very little or no fat burning is taking place. Eat at least three to four hours before bedtime to give the body enough time to burn the calories before going into rest mode. Also try to cut out empty calories that are found in soft drinks such as soda which is loaded with sugar. Opt for plain water instead which has minimum calories and also helps in flushing out body toxins.
These few pointers are a sure way to lose belly and keep it away for good. Persistence and perseverance are key in the quest for permanent weight loss and you must be able to bear the tide and ride through the rough times when giving up can seem like the easier option. Maintain a positive support system in friends and family and keep a positive attitude and outlook in life. A little humor also helps in accomplishing your goal for a firm, well-toned and beautiful physique.
