Sometimes We're Reminded To Live A Little

The original intent of this article was to be a bit lighter in nature as we often hear these words "sometimes you have to live a little," in response to cheating on our diets, but in a split second that all comes into perspective.
Early morning in the office as people start to roll in sits a plate of snicker doodles. One of the office employees makes his way into the office remarking, "hey, alright, breakfast!" at the sight of the plate of goodies.
Then from across the room comes, "you shouldn't eat that."
The guy standing over the plate scoops up a cookie and says, "sometimes you just have to live a little," taking a bite out of it as he makes his way to his office.
This is common rhetoric for those that find themselves watching what they are eating to lose weight. They try their hardest to stay focused, but when tempted, "living" comes into play.
Let's take a second to put that concept under the microscope.
If this story played out day in and day out with the one guy always taking the cookie on the notion of living life, that same repetitive intuition might eventually work against itself.
What if it applied to more than just the morning snack?
What if that applied to having fast food instead of a home-cooked meal for lunch?
What if that meant having a pizza and a pitcher of beer for dinner instead of a nice steak and vegetables?
In keeping with the idea of "living" life, if you 'live' too much for the moment there might not be a future. There might come a time where you wish you wouldn't have 'lived' life too much too early, almost as if it could run its course faster than typically anticipated- like it is a bank that will eventually run out of money.
Then after learning of a friend's passage in his late twenties, the concept of 'living' seemed skewed.
What do you do? Do you live for today or do you live for tomorrow?
No one could have anticipated the young man's death, and there was nothing he could have changed about his ways to prevent it from happening as it was a brain aneurism that took his life.
Do we live for today and the time we have, or do we live for the time we may or may not have?
The age old question still remains, and will likely remain until the end of time, but as for occasional cheating on your diet, the ball is in your court.
