You can make this a summer of weight loss transformation with a process that can focus your mental and emotional energies.
Below are four tips to help you begin.
1- Creative self-image- It is hard to measure what a positive self-image does. It is easier to focus on a creative self-image that creates results to get you where you want to go.
A simple way to exercise your creativity is to begin an inner dialogue with yourself. Ask yourself something like, "Hey Christie (that is you for now), now that you are 50 pounds lighter what qualities you have that you did not have before?" Or, "What would a Christie that is 50 pounds lighter order at this restaurant?"
This inner dialogue helps you find and nourish qualities and activities that can create the results you want. Gradually, you learn to trust yourself and find creative solutions.
2- Begin at the end- My new clients are focused on weight-loss goals they have missed for years. They are often in starting mode. When I ask them, "What would you do with all energy you'll have, the additional time and the money you save when you no longer have to put so much energy, time and money in weight loss?
They look at me with blank eyes. They really have not focused on the life beyond weight loss at all.
Your mind, for the most part, cannot separate a physical experience from the real one. Imagining an experience can be as powerful as the experience. So I ask my clients what I am asking you to do. Spend a few minutes a day and see yourself beyond the point of having accomplished your goal.
Then write your goals down from that point of view after the weight loss. Instead of I'll be there, say I am here. Instead of this is my plan to get there, say this is the path I traveled to get here.
In order to experience something you need to identify with it and be in harmony with it. This step helps you both identify and harmonize with your goal more and more and with your present condition less and less. This is the simplest way I can describe the process of change.
3- Unconditional and Unbound Love -A spiritual master taught me to fill the image of fulfilled goal with unbound love. Many of my weight loss clients block their own ability to their own self-worth and self-love. That block sabotages most of their efforts to change. Spiritual masters say that unbound love removes all limitations. So fill your image of change with unbound love.
4- Clear Goals- Write down clear goals, a plan and take steps to follow that plan.
Did you know that a research study over a ten-year period showed that those with specific written goals and a plan to accomplish them received ten times better results than those who didn't?
Written goals are not the end of your weight loss transformation journey. They are a necessary beginning. In another article, I'll show you the art and the science of goal setting.
