Belly fat occurs due to fat deposition/accumulation around the belly. This changes the appearance of the person, thus for one to look and feel better one has to shade extra belly fat. Also by shading belly fat, one feels healthy and fashionable.
i. Exercise for weight loss. Exercises especially aerobics will lead to fat loss throughout the body including the belly. In fact when you exercise belly fat burns out first as compared to the rest of the fats in the body. Focus should be given to calorie-burning exercises not only sit-ups and crunches.
ii. Reduce calorie consumption and exchange some foods for others. Restrictions should be observed in calorie intake. Some foods are known to have a higher energy density as compared to others. Therefore excess energy leads to more energy stored in the body and belly. Therefore one needs to observe the nutritional rule that states 'energy in should be equal to energy out.' Take in more and take out more.
iii. Instead of refined/sifted grains take whole grains. Whole grains contain fiber as compared to refined/sifted grains therefore giving one less energy thus less belly fat. This should be used together with up to about five servings of fruits and vegetables as they also are rich in fiber thus less energy, leading to healthy and normal belly. Eat the fruit skins for they are rich in fiber.
iv. Eat the better fats. Foods rich in polyunsaturated fats (nuts, soybeans, fish oil) are the best as compared to saturated fats. Polyunsaturated fats help in prevention of accumulation of both types of belly fat.
v. Get motivated by understanding the risks associated with belly fat. When one understands the risks associated with belly fat, it goes a long way to solving the problem unlike if it is done as a cosmetic goal. These risks include: cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer.
vi. Park the car a few blocks from work forcing you to walk the rest of the journey every day to incorporate some exercise into your daily routine. If you take the bus or train try and get off a stop or two early (take a change of shoes for this).
vii. Split your meals up into 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day, this will increase your metabolism and therefore burn more fat.
vii. Drink lots of water, particularly when you get up and before you go to bed.
