The Cycle of Obesity

Obesity is simply the symptom of a problem, but it is NOT the cause of the problem it self.
The real problem is food addiction, and obesity is simply one of its many side effects.
Whether or not a person is 50 stone and highly addicted or 25 stone and moderately addicted - one fact remains... food addicts LIKE food!
Many people with a weight problem will deny their enjoyment of food being the cause of the problem - it's almost always something external, and it's very unlikely that the individual will admit to the true source of the problem lying within themselves.
In reality, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with admitting that you LIKE food! we all do! - we're all food addicts, we need to be to survive.
It's how we "structure" our addiction that ultimately decides how we appear physically and function internally.
How do people gain excess weight in the first place though? not all overweight individuals started off as they are now, many were slimmer and more active once - the following sequence of actions will explain exactly HOW many people progressively gain weight, often without realising:
Individual experiences negative emotion
Individual eats food, food raises blood sugar levels
Individual momentarily feels "elated" due to rise in insulin from food intake
Individual subconsciously links that good feeling with food and begins to respond to stress and other forms of negative feelings by eating
Individual notices a higher feeling of elation with high sugar food types due to higher level of insulin release
Individual begins to gain excess weight as a result of excess Glycogen (sugar) intake
Individual begins to get self conscious about body
Individual feels negative about body
Individual eats to invoke a positive feeling in response
Indiviual experiences negative feedback from peers further heightening negativity
Individual eats in response.
Can you see how EASY it is for absolutely anyone to fall into this trap? it happens without most people knowing!
Seeing the cycle in black and white like this and knowing where YOU are at the moment is also the key to breaking it.
Once an individual pinpoints their exact place on the cycle of obesity, they can they enter the cycle of progression as follows:
Individual is aware of the source of their discontent
Individual takes action to improve the problem
Taking positive action leads to improvements in every area of the individuals life
Improvements lead to a feeling of satisfaction and control as well as a realisation that putting a taste in ones mouth cannot solve personal issues
Feeling of satisfaction and control overrides the need to eat junk food for elation
Individual associates positive action with positive feelings and self development.
And the great thing is, once you start, you never stop!
When you view obesity in this simple format, it suddenly doesn't seem all that complicated after all.
