Overcoming All Obstacles and Losing Fat Pounds

How's it going? I hope you've enjoyed the series and gotten a lot out of it. Today I want to wrap it up with some important mental tips.
I've taught you what foods to eat, how to exercise, and some concrete strategies you can start using today. But actually, the mental stuff is much trickier and much more important. Let's get right into it.
Negativity is the Enemy
What's worse than sneaky food additives or laziness? Negativity. When you have negative ideas about yourself, food, weight loss, and overall health, these poison your chances of slimming down.
We all know that negativity's bad and we need to be more positive, but how do you do that? The first step is to recognize your negativity.
Take a good look at all of your thoughts and attitudes. Look for the ones that contain words like 'don't' and 'not.' It really helps me to make a list of statements that I believe about weight loss.
Change those negative statements into positive ones. As you go through your weight loss program, identify negative thought patterns and call them out when they start getting to you.
Discipline Isn't So Hard After All
It takes discipline to lose weight. I can hear you groaning on the other side of that computer screen right now - Discipline! What a horrible word. It makes you want to throw in the towel right now.
But think of it this way - discipline just means habits. You learn habits and stick to them and that's all discipline is about. Disciplining yourself just means creating new habits and getting used to them.
Picture yourself in the future. You're healthy, slim and enjoying life. What are some things that future you does that the present you doesn't do? List these things and you've got some new habits to create.
Creating habits takes time and you should only work on one at a time. Depending on the habit, it can take anywhere from two weeks to two months, but stick with it. Practice daily and let yourself slip once in a while.
Self-Confidence Gets You There
Self-confidence is another major mental issue. Most of us can't lose weight because we don't believe that it's possible. But take a look at all the success stories out there. Of course it can be done!
If you don't have confidence in yourself, it's probably because you dwell on past failures. What if you obsessed over past successes instead? Wouldn't that make you feel great about yourself?
Okay, we're going to make another list. Start writing down your 'greatest hits.' These are the achievements you're most proud of. They don't have to be related to weight loss; they can be anything at all. They also don't have to be life-changers. For example, you got up with the alarm today and didn't hit the snooze button.
Keep this list with you. Whenever some past failure comes to mind, pull it out and review.
It also helps to realize that failure is valuable too. We learn from our mistakes. Try to reorder your thinking and turn failures into life lessons.
Support from Others
It takes a great deal of support from others when you want to lose weight. Your positivity, discipline and self-confidence can take a major beating if those around you don't support you.
The best way to deal with unsupportive people is to simply ignore them. Cut them out or at least avoid the topic of weight loss with them. If it's someone close to you, have a serious sit-down and talk about it. Tell them you need their support. If they can't give you that, they need to at least shut up and stay out of your way.
Now you're armed with solid lifestyle tips for losing weight as well as techniques for mastering your mind and programming it for success. I hope this series is everything you hoped it would be and you're taking action on what I've taught you already. When you finally see yourself in the body you want, it's truly wonderful and well worth the struggle!
